I really don't know what FG's stance is on that. But, you may want to read the new FG regulation book thoroughly because there is a section in there about everything alowed to be taken on scuba. Are sheep crabs a cancer genus crab? If not, nets or freediving may be the only legal way to get them. I would personally not pull them apart (my own issues).
You know those Puget Sound crabs? I think they fall under the same rules, but since they are not a native species and FG knows nothing about them they may be exempt. I will find out.
