We keep on rolling!!!
We're very happy to announce that we've passed the $7000 mark ($7050, to be exact) in this year's Chamber Chlalange, due to the generosity of the folks listed below.
The Challenge is an integral part of the annual fund-raising event (Chamber Day) for our Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber. And it's one more reason why our Chamber can stay available to SoCal divers on a 24/7/365 basis.
One of the fiscal realities of life in 2003 is that government entities are faced with a severe budget crisis and will look to cut wherever they can, and especially in areas where it seems safe politically. And there's a concern that it could mean the funding our Chamber gets from LA County (roughly $108K this year - over 60% of what's needed to keep the Chamber open each year) might become a target. Which makes other fund-raising avenues like the Chamber Challenge even more important, to provide us with a cushion should the budget ax fall.
Our latest rounds of donors is headed by long-time Chamber supporter Troy Bagwell, who comes through with $1000. He's followed closely by Sport Chalet and Scuba Schools of America (Montclair), each kicking in $500. Not to be left out, the Sea Divers have signed on again to the tune of $250. Plus there are numerous $100 contributors.
We're less than four weeks away from Chamber Day/Eve 2003 (May 7) and we'd love to add your name to the list of concerned divers willing to enusre the fiscal health of our Chamber. So . . . WHO'S NEXT????
