I too enjoy the rain. However the weather down here has sucked for the last 2 months because of wind and swell. I have had several dive trips called because of the conditions.
Once one gets to the islands, there are a few somewhat diveable spots, but the problem is the trip there and back.
For shore diving locally, I personally won’t get in the water for at least 5 days after a rain because of LA runoff. Almost every time I have thrown caution to the wind and gone in anyway, I get sick.
Monterey is lucky it does not yet have the huge urban runoff problems of Southern California, but unfortunately I think it is only a matter of time.
