The following instructors are all people I have been on multiple dive trips with and I know they can dive, and I also know people who have taken classes from them and Steve Sanford and reported back to me they were good teachers as well.

Steve Sanford at Sea d Sea in Redondo beach is the best instructor I know.

Ken Kurtis, the co-owner of Reef Seekers in Beverly Hills has done a good job with basic scuba for several friends.

Dalia Sosa is an independent instructor in the Valley who is very good as well.

Eric Frasco who teaches out of Dive n Surf in Redondo beach and is very active with GLACD and the "rips, rocks, and reefs" course that teachs beach diving skills.
