There are issues with youth diving that are serious. get them the least bit bent and they may have thier growth stunted, or so it is theorized. But the risk of drowning is the most common one expressed. If you dive with a kid, you are diving solo as far aas having a backup for yourself.
The gear does not work for little kids. They have weight belt problems. There are a host of issues to deal with.
But I am glad we let her dive at 10. The others were all older when they learned and this one was well prepared whenshe did the class. It is a fun family passtime. But she is mostly a vacation diver. IT is just so hard on me to take her diving locally!
