Even when you solo dive, AA, you can get your mask knocked off. A sea lion can come along and knock it off. A seal can come a long and paw it off. Another solo diver can come along and knock it off.
It is a skill worth learning to recover and clear you mask underwater. Unfortunately, most new dive students are afraid of the water, and therefore this drill is usually difficult for them to learn.
