Yes, we've been to Loreto every August for the last three years. The diving was with Arturo's Sports Fishing fleet. Ask for Ramone as your guide. We've stayed at the new hotel that opened last February (forgot the name) and it was quite nice (a brand new building helps) as well as Eden. Eden is nice as well, but is beginning to show it's age as a building. Our regular trip consists of six to seven days (five dive days, three tanks per day plus one night dive.) It is an easy non-stop trip from LAX on Aero California and Loreto is a port of entry, so customs in on the airport.

The diving ranges from spectacular (hundreds of Manta's feeding in the current) to fairly poor visibility (30-40 ft). Each dive site is different and none were disappointing. There was tons of life in all the spots we went to. (I'd have to dig out my log book for site names-let me know if your interested.)

Does the diving compare to Maui or Belize? No, neither does the cost.

Enjoy and tell us what you thought.

Jim.
