What are the odds of having a case of "mistaken Identity" while doing a surface swim out to the nearest kelp bed in SoCal? It appears most of the attacks have been further North than Point Conception. Is this a trend that we can take some releif to when we go in the water to dive/surf in the SoCal area?
Also, What are the odds of being attacked while underwater? It would seem to me that the scuba exhaust would be a sure givaway that we are not a pinniped of any kind.
