On Friday night a group of us went diving at Santa Cruz Island to scout out some good sights for lobster season. Visibility was greater than 40' for all three dives, and the water felt almost hot above the thermocline.

However, when we were headed back to Channel Islands Harbor on Saturday morning, about halfway between the island and the oil rig Gina, we saw a Great White Shark breach out of the water and go after a small seal that was swimming for its life. The shark was about 50 yds. off the starboard side of the boat and breached about 3 times chasing the seal. Absolutley amazing! Finally the shark and seal disappeared. We didn't see any blood in the water, but it was a good reminder to always have a camera ready. To see something that powerful in person is unforgettable.
