The California Fish and Game Commission (Commission) has scheduled the first in a series of special meetings for the public to review the Department of Fish and Game's (Department's) draft Abalone Recovery and Management Plan (ARMP). The first meeting will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Monterey Beach Resort (The Bay View Room), 2600 Sand Dunes Drive in Monterey. Future meetings will be posted on the Department's Website, www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd, as they are scheduled. The Commission currently plans to hold a total of three formal public meetings to receive comments on the draft ARMP.
The meetings are intended to provide the public with an overview of the current draft plan, and for the Commission to hear public comments on proposed abalone management and recovery strategies. All comments from these meetings, and those received in writing, will be incorporated into the plan together with responses from the Department.
For additional information on how the public may provide comments, the Commission meeting schedule, and other abalone-specific information, go to the Department's Web site at www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/abalone.html.
