A man who owned a boat at Channel Islands Harbor was found dead Tuesday after friends had reported him missing the night before.
Kevin Cunningham, 49, of Santa Clarita was found floating in Channel Islands Harbor around 11:30 a.m., Ventura County Sheriff's Department officials said. He had been reported missing by friends Monday evening.
He was last seen drinking with the friends around 10:30 p.m. Sunday before heading toward his boat in a dinghy, sheriff's officials said.
The Channel Islands Harbor Patrol searched for Cunningham Monday evening. They found his dinghy but not him.
Tuesday morning, Ventura County Search and Rescue divers joined the search and found his body floating about 15 feet from his sailboat.
The cause of death remained unclear Tuesday, but sheriff's officials said no foul play was suspected.
