I'm also bringing my 3 sons down to San Diego for a day of diving in late December as we tour Universal, Disney, San Diego, etc for the holidays. Their ages...14, 13, 12. They've logged about 10 dives in monterey (mostly in thick kelp) and 4 in hawaii.
The boat that coordinates best with our travel plans (Dec. 21 for diving) is the Dn'DII run by GottaDive.com. Can anyone comment on this boat/crew (good or otherwise). We are not set on San Diego. If you can suggest a good boat for a half day trip anywhere in So. Cal (Long Beach, etc), that may work as well.
Also, I definitely think that the Yukon would be too advanced (deep)for them at this point. What about the top of the Ruby E (no penetration) and a kelp forest dive?
Thoughts?
