I think that one to the problems that experience divers have is that we have become complacent. We take short cuts and get away with it. We don’t do our buddy checks (SEABAG) any more we don’t even do checks on our own gear. We have become sloppy. Sloppy with our entries and exits in the surfline. Sloppy with our diving techniques. The problem is that no matter how good we think we are, we are still dealing with a hazardous environment using life support equipment. Being complacent in this environment has got many very experienced divers in trouble. The techniques that we were taught in our basic classes, were taught to keep us from having an accident. Maybe it’s time to get out that basic text and review some of those techniques.
