I know you've seen grasses Brad, and you have a beautiful photo of one head on. However, it looks like a kelp rockfish to me.
I don't see the dark blotches typical of grasses. I do see faint yellow streaks that I've seen on many kelps. Also, it does not seem to have the robust, chunky head that I would associate with grasses.
