I'm bringing this to the top for a reason.
The comment by Chris about the squid is very pertinant.
The historiccal record of the Fish and Game, as well as anyone else involved in California fisheries management is absolutely abysmal.
Captain Tim has spoken for you though, so I reserve judgement. It was John Muir who noted that attitudes towards nature may change.
I challenge you though. First to tell me what the Fish and Game is doing to make the squid harvest maintainable. Second, do it. If the squid population crashes as have so many other species, it will be another ecological catastrophe with far reaching consequences.
Will the Fish and Game preside over this destruction or will they find a way to husband the valuable resource. From my view it is scary.
Again though. I ask you to tell me what the Fish and Game are doing now that will prevent the destruction of the squid population... as happened with sardines, abalone, ....
Thank you, seahunt
