Diving is a bit different here than in Georgia. From Aneheim, the closest diving would be out of Long Beach or San Pedro. You have two choices from there. Either catch a dive boat from the ports or take the Express to Catalina.
If you go to californiadiveboats.com , you can look for boats going out of Long Beach or San Pedro and then check out their schedules on their web sites. The Great Escape, The Sundiver, Encore and Westerly are notably good boats to take. You can get a trip to Catalina or perhaps try for an outer island.
The other alternative is to take the Catalina Express out to Avalon and dive at the Casino in the park. There is an air van parked right there at the Casino and there are stairs into the water. There is a dive shop on the island (ScubaLuv at 310-510-2350) and three boats depart from there as well for local dives.

Hey, if you go before March 15, you can get an out of state fishing license (I think) and try for some lobsters.
The downside of this is that March can get windy, especially towards the end. You might want to check out the 3 Day Swell Map
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
