Monterey Aquarium is on the way and well worth seeing.... They over feed the fish to keep them from munching on each other, but the lingcod are still in their own tank.
Drive up to Monterey on one day. Play there and then drive to the North Coast the next day. Take the long route up the San Francisco Penninsula. It's beautiful and wild enough to satisfy even you.
