Some of the halibut up here can get upwards of 150 pounds or larger 300 pounds in not unheard of. If you catch one of these big barndoor halibut, with hook and line, you shoot them before bringing them on board. Meat from the halibut that large kind flakes off. Smaller halibut meat is firm. Yes, you would pass on a flattie that big. But then most people don't believe that we freedive up here and surf. Kodiak Island has great breaks with on one on them.
