Welcome to diving. Twenty years ago I figured just to get certified to say I did it. Diving became an obsession, now its merely a preoccupation. Dive as much as you can. If a veteran doesn't want to dive with you because you are a newbie, don't dive with him, he would be an asshole as a dive buddy. Be assured that most veterans are flattered to be asked to dive with a newbie. You keep diving interesting with your enthusiasm. Just be cool and don't be afraid to ask questions of your buddy, that's how you learn. Keep it real.
If I was still there, I'd dive with you.
