The problem comes when looking through a proxy since many proxies do not propigate the http_referer. Your software package probably keys on that to prevent direct links to the pictures. I have problems with Paulette's, Kathy Kalohi's, and Mike Brennan's galleries becasue http_referer does not always propgate through proxies. Then there are some browsers, such as Opera that do not provide http_referer information.
