Been there 3 times, always in August and it was always hot so stay at a decent hotel with AC. The diving terrain is mostly like like socal (rocks no coral, some lava flows), but water was nice and warm. One year the vis was like gatorade, the other years it was closer to 40 to 60 foot vis. Last time we went in 2002, we saw a huge school of giant mantas (think 100's like rush hour) swimming in the current just off one of the islands in about 80 feet of water. We always went diving with Arturo's. They pick you up in 16 foot pangas and take you for two dives. They provide a sandwich lunch on a quiet beach. The last day they do a BBQ beach party with Coronas with the best guac. Loved it and want to go back before the cruise ships spoil it! Have fun!
