I find that when I dive with novice divers (newly certified) that they tend to need a great deal of attention and encouragement. When you take pictures, you tend to focus on your pictures and are not a very good buddy. Thus for your first few dives, leave the camera behind and concentrate on your dive and your buddy. Your sticking close by your wife and encouraging her on her first few dives will go a long way in making your future dives together happy and successful experiences. Just because she is certified does not mean she is comfortable in the water, that will come with time.
