This last Sunday when doing some UW video on the Cee Ray at Catalina I did a great dive, lots of sunshine thru the kelp. I also shot video of two beautiful Horn Sharks.
On the trip home I played back the tape. About 12 minutes into the dive 1/2 of the screen was totally scrambled. Footage was toast.
It was a JVC DV tape that had been used twice before. I will never trust a used tape again for anything important.
I did get a Black Sea bass on tape on the first dive of the day. The second dive's video was OK too. I usually use one DV tape per dive, I should have bought a new 3 pack.
