For a first time incident, with no resulting injuries, it is unlikely that there will be any major repercussions, other than embarrassment.

The whole thing is certainly very embarrassing for all concerned, the captain, the scuba store, and the D/M. And the victim together with the Boy Scouts are famous now, nationwide. So all in all it has turned out OK so far.

Was the D/M over-tasked? Was the D/M not fully up to the task that morning? Should better procedures be followed by this boat and all Calif dive boats? The answers to those questions, which will probably be offered by the Coast Guard repot, will benefit everybody, when it is all over with.
