You know what Ken, I think that there are two victims here, the diver and Ray. I do believe that the diver is very lucky to be alive (and if he had not of been found, they would have said, he died of a diving accident at the second spot, (he had a heart attack, or was solo diving, etc.).
When I have dove the rigs we did it as a live boat. That means that the DM has to be even more aware of what’s going on (Global Awareness). If there was fog the dive should have been called. There is no way to do a dive like this safely, with fog. A head count roll call has to be done when you move the boat (each individual diver should be polled). This is all DM 101. I don’t know this guy, but he screwed up big thing and should have his cert pulled.
