According to PADI the diver made the right choice-cant equalize, abort the dive. Apparently poor communication/response occured with him and the dive buddies on what to do when seperated, or when one needs to surface. If the diver was swept by a current, thats something that he cant control.
With the fog and the current, if it was noticable by the captain, this dive should of never taken place.
There's no excuse for the DM. Thats just plain scary that he's counting invisable divers.
Screw ups on all ends- People will lose face but, in the end he made it out alive.
