I have also watched a dive boat pull anchor with a free diver still in the water. I this case the free diver had established good communication with the captain and the crew. After all scuba divers had re boarded the boat and been accounted for the boat pulled anchor, navigated around a couple of rocks, and traveled quite a large distance to pick up the spearfishing focused free diver. In this instance the free diver had gone out of his way to make certain that the captain and the crew knew that he was going to be out there and had asked that they keep an eye on him. As a result, he had several people looking out for him and he knew that if the boat pulled anchor without him is was because the boat was coming to get him. It was all no big deal. In this instance communication was the key.
