Lt. Cmdr. Fassero was as lenient as the circumstances could bare. Fassero was quoted in the artical as saying that the captain took responsibility from the first conversation. I would bet that their encounter was one of mutual respect and mutual acceptance of the outcome. I couldn't fault Lt Cmdr Fassero for his discretion and judgement in the suspension of the license. As a matter of fact, the whole thing was a text book example on how to deal with that situation. The Lt. Cmdr. ascertained that the captain was a responsible individual and he complied with his mandate accordingly.
