The majority of dive sites on the Kona Coast are shallow and close to shore. I made quite a few boat dives before I realized that I could rent a couple of tanks and some weight, throw them in the trunk of the rental car and have fun. There are some very nice shore dives and the easiest one of them all would be perfect for your girlfriend. Hapuna State beach is a wide, sandy beach with a snack bar, showers, picnic benches and coral reefs on either end of the beach.
