Except for experienced back pack divers, a BCD is an accepted, even necessary item of scuba safety equipment. Yes, they can on extremely rare occasions malfunction. But a diver with 1,000 plus dives should know how to detach a free flowing lp hose, if that was the problem. Teachers who teach BCD operation are definitely NOT to blame.
