While I do support the F&G, they are public servants. Consider....
Newbies cut abalone when taking them.
Progessional divers go pop, pop, pop.
If you cut them, you are clumsy.
Good hunters take them before they can move, with one deft slide of the iron.
If you plan on taking them 500+ miles to Ensenada to sell them, do you cut them?
Maybe the F&G didn't want to go to the effort to re-plant them.
I don't belive many were cut.
