Curt and I did a scuba dive this afternoon in Iverson Cove. We used my HP80 tanks to make the hike back up after the dive a bit easier. We both used our abalone floats to get through the shallow area by kicking on top of them. I put my camera in mine with the hopes of getting some pictures.
When we got out we found the visibility ranged from 2 to 5 feet, there was about 4 feet of surge, and quite a bit of particulate matter in the water. I did take some underwater pics of abs, rockfish, and a chiton. However because of the poor conditions the underwater photos can best be described as marginal. The pictures are full of particulates, and many lodged between the wide angle lens and the camera of which I was unaware.
I stayed down for about 45 minutes and finally came in because my hands were numb. Curt came in about 15 minutes before me because he was cold. I still had about 1100 psi when I gave up the dive.
My girlfriend Kathryn took pictures of us on the surface and on the beach.
