To pick one single shore dive as a favorite is difficult. I would have to agree with Christmas Tree Cove. It is my all time favorite dive site in Southern California. Although it has been years since I dove it.
I have dove it. When everywhere else was blown out and Christmas Tree cove still had clear water. It has a wide assortment of sea life. I have numerous good memories of Christmas Tree cove. Even without facilites and a steep walk to reach the cove. I still love this place.
I rarely go there nowadays. Because I no longer live in the LA area and I am no longer in good enough shape for such a steep climb. When I do go south I usually dive La Jolla cove. Even though the crowds in summer can be overwhelming. It is a great dive site. With things my wife can do close by while I am diving.
