It seems the Automated Wildlife Data Systems (AWDS) is run by International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (IAFWA) which was founded in 1902 as a quasi-governmental organization of public agencies charged with the protection and management of North America's fish and wildlife resources.
This system is now used by most states to mange the sales of game licenses.
I too do not like the use of SS# info. I would prefer the use of Drivers Licence numbers instead, as it is now.
