Presuming you're not allergic to the seal material,
your shop should've filled you in about trimming the seals.
Neoprene should be stretched out over a tank, can, etc. overnight before diving.
Lates seals don't stretch much, they need trimming.
I can't believe your shop didn't cover this with you, using a too-tight neck seal can easily put you in a life-threatening situation.
