Just got off the phone with the IBRRC folks. The Petrel spent Tuesday night in the incubator, seemed good to go in the morning, was given a "waterproofing test" for his wings (no clue as to how they do that) and on Wednesday afternoon was transported via LA County Lifeguard fast boat out to the backside of Catalina and released back into the wild.
All's well that ends well.
