The NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) list that I receive just announced a newly introduced congressional bill.

Oceans
On 7/22, leaders of the House Oceans Caucus -- Reps. Greenwood (R-PA), Farr(D- CA), Allen (D-ME) and Weldon (R-PA) -- introduced OCEANS-21 (H.R. 4900), a comprehensive bill that would establish a national policy to protect, maintain and restore ocean ecosystems. The bill, which builds on the recommendations of two reports by national oceans commissions, would provide necessary mechanisms
for ensuring an ecosystems-based approach to oceans management. It also would create national ocean science and education programs to better coordinate management decisions and heighten public awareness of the importance of healthy oceans and coasts.
