I guess the ideal would be a relatively inexpensive individual GPS or radio unit tuned to the boat's frequency. Activated when lost and/or drifting, the boat picks up the coordinates, moves to the spot, and picks up the diver. Best case scenario. The other alternative is don't put divers into foggy water ;-)
Can't believe the Long Beach Post Telegraph is running a three part, front page, rehash of the "incident". Gotta be a tie-in with the release of the flick Open Water.
