The animal in this photo is clearly not a dolphin or porpoise. The head and body shape point only to a thresher. Threshers have a head that is just as unique as a hammerhead, great white, or tiger's. (see photo)You do not need to see the tail as the only means of identifying a shark as a thresher. Also, threshers do come into shallower waters on occasion to follow schools of fish. Personally, if I were a betting man, I would bet the farm that this is a thresher shark.
