Very sorry to hear about the hit. Two things jumped out of your story at me. #1, no deep stops. They really do help to allow nitrogen to exit before you get to a safety stop depth. They are especially helpful in a case like yours with multiple dives involved. #2,the shower. As you probably remember from your Open Water course, a hot shower after diving opens the capillaries, causing rapid offgassing.
