Several years ago we had a family that would come into Marina Dive & Sport to rent tanks. Only one of them dived, but they always came in the shop five or six at a time. They used to brag about poaching Garibaldis and lobsters. I was diving earlier in the morning during one of those rare days with 40 feet of visibility along the San Pedro coast. That afternoon, they came in the shop and told me they were diving at Cabrillo Beach for Garibaldis. They claimed that they are an aphrodisiac, although they already had a dozen kids so I don't think they need one. After they left, I called a warden that lived close to Cabrillo. He said he would be waiting for them. Thirty minutes later, the returned the tanks (still full) and told me they passed on the dive due to poor visibility. I think they must have seen the F&G truck.
