The most dramatic dive spots around LA are;
Farnsworth Bank (close)
San Miguel Island
Santa Cruz Island
Begg Rock (exceptional divesite)
Osborne Bank (Very Deep)
Tanner Bank
Cortes Bank
San Clemente has some great spots as well and the warmest water plus better vis than the other islands.
My favorite is Begg Rock
