Some of the really old regulators had the same thread size for HP and LP hose fittings. But remember that HP is tank pressure, which greatly exceeds the LP output of the first stage (usually around 150 psi). LP hoses will not be able to sustain full tank pressure and will rupture. So, don't hook up the LP hose to the HP port or else you'll hear a loud POP followed by rapid loss of tank pressure.
