I saw some nice reefs just north and south of Pidgeon Point this past weekend, while taking the coast highway home from Monterey. The ocean would have been too rough to dive them now, but on a calm day, it might be interesting.
Any scuba in the vicinity of the Red Triangle, however, has normally always been taboo. We let the surfers feed the big fish instead.
Your new German friend might find that out the hard way, if he clicks on the "wrong" dots on your map, like Bolinas or Ano Nuevo.
