1. How big was the fish?
2. What color was it?
3. Any distinguishing marks or features?
4. Was it free-swimming or on the bottom?
5. If swimming, was it using its pectoral fins or was it using its tail?
6. How deep?
7. What was it doing in general?

Give as much info as you can, and this will help narrow it down significantly.

Napoleon (Humphead or Maori) wrasses live in Indo/Pacific waters. I doubt the thing swam all the way from Palau and it's also not likely it migrated up from Mexico, since they don't live down there.

BTW, we do offer a Fish ID class every month at Reef Seekers. Next one is scheduled for October 7. Best $25 you can possibly spend.
