This is a tragic event, however it is interesting that the shark did not consume either the head or body. It supports the theory that they mistake us for seals and really do not want to eat us. I alwasy thought that was just an excuse created by experts to reduce public fear. As we know, most victims are not killed and exit the water after the attack, but I always figured the shark would have eaten the victim if given the chance. Apparently not.
