How is diving in the Mediterannean Sea?

I tried doing a search on this, but couldn't find a lot. It looks like a lot of the beaches there look like they come out of the Caribbean minus the tropical foliage. How cold and warm does the water get there, are there any tropical looking fish corals or amazing features?
