Despite a couple thousand hours b/t off all our Channel Islands the last 30 years, never before dove the pinnacles off San Miguel. Wow. Scallops as large as dinner plates and rock fish so tame you could almost pet 'em. A relatively new member of the club, I was hesitant to make the first jump: overcast skies, green water, and 4 to 6 foot swells. I be an old diver but not a bold diver, so I passed. Watching the others suit up, gear up, and drop in, I thought they were either a bit loony or highly advanced. The latter was definitely true as they returned up the plunging swim step loaded with game and cameras and scallops. Hell of a crew, these Sea Divers, as well as skipper Eric's crew; top guns from DM's to galley gals.
Great two day trip and I'm looking forward to the next one. A mind expanded with a new experience never shrinks back to its original shape. Now if only those pinnacles had a wreck or two...;-)
