Wait and watch the surf for at least ten minutes. What looked like a calm day between sets may turn into 3-5 footers......

If there is any appreciable surf, get out of the surf zone ASAP. That is where people get hurt. Get your fins on and move, don't sit and fiddle with straps and such. Some people put fins on on the beach. I do it in the water. Whichever way gets you through the surf zone faster.

Same coming in. Wait for a lull between sets outisde the surf zone.

Don't face waves head on. Stand sideways, planting each foot strongly. LEss area of you to get knocked down.

Don't turn your back on the surf.

Make sure your navigation is up to snuff.

Have fun

Chris
