La Jolla Cove in San Diego - very nice, but rarley warm. Can be snorkeled for short periods in the late Summer/early fall without a wetsuit.
The snorkeling park at Avalon - requires a wetsuit, usually a 2/3 will do for snorkeling
Small coves in Mendocino County - you will need a very calm day and good luck to find visability, it will be cold, a 7mm or thicker wetsuit will be needed even to snorkel.
